Exploring: Northern State Hospital | Washington State Abandoned Places

Northern State Hospital was established in 1909 and was home to more than 2,000 patients (considered to be mentally ill) and staff. At the time doctors and nurses treated their patients with what was considered ethical but now known to be otherwise. The institution included a 700 acre farm for growing food and livestock. In 1973, the facility closed down due the government cutting off their funding.

We decided to explore the remains of the hospital and farm.
